Canon Pixma TR8520 Series Printer Reviews– The TR8520 is 35 percent smaller than MX922, which attributes the company to a new printing machine, smaller circuit boards and power supply improved paper paths, and reworked internal design – in other words, it was redesigned. Measuring 7.5 by 17.3 by 13.8 inches (HWD) with a tray closed, and weighing £17.5, the TR8520 is actually significantly smaller and more than 8 pounds lighter than its predecessor, making it much more comfortable suited to flat desktops.

Nevertheless, there is no shortage of tiny printers in this category today. But that’s partly because many of them don’t have an automatic document feeder (ADFs) to send a MultiPage document to the scanner. On the contrary, TR8520 is equipped with a 20-sheet ADF, which is slightly smaller than the HP Envy Photo 7855 35 document feeder, although none of them support Auto-duplexing for scanning and copying MultiPage two-sided documents.

The Pixma TR8520 can hold up to 200 sheets, divided between cassette paper in front, under Control Panel, and a 200-sheet tray upright on the back of the chassis. You can also use the rear tray to feed the printer up to 20 pieces of Premium photo paper. Both Canon TS9020 and TS8020 come with the same 100/100 two-tray configurations; HP 7855 has a 1 125-sheet paper drawer, as well as a 15-sheet photo paper tray, which is similar to the Epson XP-640 ‘s 100-sheet paper drawer and 20-sheet paper photo tray.

While TR8520 doesn’t look like its predecessor, Canon MX922, it doesn’t use the same five inks. In addition to the four color inks of the standard Die-based process — Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black (CMYK) — you also get a black pigment that darkens the text and black areas in the photo, as well as increasing the color of the Gambit (range). The Epson XP-640 uses five inks, as well, and the Canon TS9020 and TS8020 respectively use six (pigment-black ink and photo-grey inks which not only extends the Gambit color but also enhances the quality of the grayscale photo). The HP Envy 7855 comes with just four color ink processes. That and its support of the Instant Ink program HP subscriptions make it the most expensive of these models to use, especially when printing photos.

Configuring TR8520, as well as preparing and initiating a walkup task, such as creating a copy or printing from a cloud site, is handled from a spacious and easy-to-use 4.3-inch color touch LCD that, apart from the power button, consists of the entire Control Panel. As for TR8520. ‘s maximum monthly duty cycle and recommended monthly print volumes, as we have seen with the TS-Pixmas series earlier this year, Canon is not publishing this figure for consumer-grade (as opposed to business-oriented) printers anymore.

Setup, connectivity, and software
Setting up TR8520 is simple and straightforward, though it requires an extra step or two more than most another inkjet. Even so, once you plug in and turn it on, the large control panel TR8520 runs through each process — from unpacking and loading five ink cartridges to filling up two paper trays. There is no part of the installation process left for misinterpretation.

As the flagship TR-Series model, TR8520 comes with the most connectivity options. They include Wi-Fi; The wired and wireless PictBridge Ethernet for printing photos from certain Canon cameras; USB Port; SD card slots; and Bluetooth 4.0 for easy printing of mobile devices. Other mobile printing options are Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, the Canon Print app (for printing emails), PIXMA Cloud links, and some others.
